Meiden America Switchgear, Inc. was founded in April 2020 in Gray Court, SC, as a subsidiary of the Meidensha Corporation (Meiden). We leverage over 100 years of circuit breaker manufacturing expertise to deliver world-class, eco-friendly grid equipment to North America. Our new facility includes a 37,500 square-foot production floor, dedicated to the assembly of our SF6-free vacuum circuit breakers.
Meiden has long been a pioneer in transmission and distribution, having developed the world’s first high-voltage vacuum circuit breaker, the world’s first 72.5/84kV vacuum interrupter, and most recently, the world’s first 145kV dead tank vacuum circuit breaker (VCB). Over 2000 units of our 72.5kV dead tank VCB have been installed worldwide (over 800 in North America).
